Kyoto greenhouse gasses

The major anthropogenic GHGs identified and included in the Kyoto Protocol (Annex A) are:

• CO₂ (carbon dioxide),
• CH₄ (methane),
• N₂O (nitrous oxide),
• PFCs (perfluorocarbons),
• HFCs (hydrofluorocarbons) and
• SF₆ (sulphur hexafluoride).

Some other GHGs are covered by the Montreal Protocol (1^st January 1999) on substances depleting the ozone layer.
